The new KTrans Logistics Facility located in Roe Highway Logistics Park was meticulously designed and built with the Tenant’s operation first and foremost in mind. The overall effect of this Facility is one of functionality whilst maintaining a modern appearance that encapsulates the tenant’s operations and status within the marketplace. The contract entailed a purpose build Main Office, Warehouse, Workshop, a state-of-the-art Truck Wash Facility, a container storage pavement area, and a Breezeway undercover area for loading and offloading.
Consisting of steel frame skeleton, the building fabric combines concrete panel walls and metal sheet cladding for both the walls and roof. The modern elevation inspired by contemporary architecture, balances light weight with solid materials and is complimented with striking corporate colours. Modern office façade and office entrance canopy drawing the eye in with an expressed cantilevered structure cladded with aluminium composite panel to the Tenant’s corporate green colours. Automated gantry style truck washing bay inclusive of a plant room housing the necessary equipment to operate the wash bay. The system recycles the used water via a number of processes which in turns minimises the use of schemed water. Further and integrated in the system is a rain harvesting system capable of storing 120,000L of water collected for the roof catchment area.
Several on-site challenges presented itself during the build ranging from higher than expected water table to high winds. The presence of the main gas line for greater Perth region on the Western side of the project also posed high risk works. All of which was systematically addressed with detailed planning, resequencing of works without lost time and building contingencies within the project activities. Site coordination played an important role to ensure unexpected events were minimised or eliminated where possible.
